Costco receipts use single-letter tax codes (A, E, F, T, Y, Z) tied to each item's tax category. The 23-digit Transaction Code (TC#) at the bottom is the most important identifier — Membership Counter employees use it for returns and lookups. Costco receipts include your 12-digit member number (MBR#), warehouse number (Whs#), terminal, and operator. Every purchase made with your membership card automatically saves to the Costco app.

Today Costco serves 130M+ members worldwide with member renewal rates above 90% — one of the highest customer loyalty rates in retail.
