Kmart receipts document purchases made at Kmart retail stores, listing each item, price, applicable tax, and a transaction number used for returns and exchanges. People recreate Kmart receipts most often to support warranty claims, expense reimbursements, or returns when the original was lost. Kmart was founded in 1962 in Garden City, Michigan, as an offshoot of the S.S. Kresge Company. At its peak it operated over 2,000 US stores. After filing for bankruptcy twice, its US footprint shrank dramatically.
